white hat secret SEO method to naturally increase your SERPS 11/18/11
Today I will share with you some secret techniques that will help you boost drastically your website’s traffic. After nearly 5 months planning and learning SEO by myself, I learned a lot about optimizing a website to attract more customers and more sales. Anyone can pretend being an SEO but it’s like karate, the black belt does make a difference. People who are usually capable of doing SEO for your company will normally not brag about it all over the internet. And I personally think that sharing this knowledge with others is the way to proceed. We at Maurisource agency are very aware of that, and I think this is why we built such a strong image to our client rapidly. Honestly, do you remember your first blog where you get random comments from people telling you about SEO and how they can increase your sales? Let me tell you something: if your website was not ranked properly they wouldn’t have found you, and if they can, so can your clients. This is what I’ll talk about here, the express lane to take in order to Dominate your niche.
Second thing before we start, don’t thing that Page Rank is the top thing to get from Google, I mean, obviously it’s nice to be awarded for our efforts tweaking a website to suit Google’s algorithm. But here I come and testify about something. My keywords are maximized for a very competitive market. And let me tell you that Google does compare your website to the others using the same keywords. Their algorithm is so intelligently built and no one else than Google knows what it is, not even me or not any SEO. The days where the one who has the greater number of links will win the match is over! What is used nowadays then you’ll ask me? Here’s the quickest way to build high ranked website.
Let’s understand how effective SEO works.
First of all, you’ll need to buy a domain name (generally 3words maximum, example of a bad example: getmemoremoneynow) long domain are completely worthless, unattractive to the human eye that will most likely be more attracted to click on something like (moneybuilding). This is he hardest thing to choose, if you take less than a day to find one that suits you, then it’s not the one! With the competition nowadays and with companies specialized in buying bulk links, there are few chance that you find a good one, second tip for the domain choosing affair, keep in mind that what suits you, might sound awkward to others. So build a list of different domain name and tell you surrounding about it (choose people who has no expert knowledge about domain names and all) they will gve you the most logical and effective answer, because most of the people who will browse you websites are common users and not Web expert like you and me interested in SEO!
So you found your domain name? The best solution i would suggest to anyone here is to buy your domain name from a different service than your web hosting company. Why? Because you will definitely get bad surprises for any beginner choosing the cheapest hosting company (like renewal policy that changed, renewal price that doubled after one year, so keep it loose). If everything is attached to only one host, let’s say tomorrow you want to move to another service, some hosting services will prevent you from transferring your domain name and you will lose all the effort you put in your website. Yeah, because Google definitely doesn’t like expired domain names. As soon as they flag your domain name as a dormant offline website it will lose all it’s pageRank and domain popularity etc (which is hell in the SEO language). Google is aware of websites that appear just for one year and then closed because the owner changed his mind, this is why Google doesn’t give much importance to those website, and is more willing to concentrate on domain names with an expiry date happening 3,4 years from now. So go buy your domain name for 3 years minimum on a domain registrar like Go daddy for example. Your hosting service, as long as it’s rapid and that the websites hosted over there are quality websites, it will work in your favor. Do some research on how to ping back your web host to see a list of all other websites hosted on your same host. If you find illegal websites then you better move on to other hosting providers. Once done you’re ready to start building your website!
Keep good element structure of your web pages.
There’s a certain element structure to respect. Keep an important place for those tags in your HTML page and never let you design compromise those tags.
h1 tag, this is the most heavy tag that will contain the core activity of your business or website. Normally it’s the first thing we see on the main content homepage. Avoid using H1 tags elsewhere on the sub pages website. If Blog or other sub website then YES.
h2 tags, normally underneath the h1 and elsewhere to describe the h1 sentence. Multiple H2 can be used throughout the website.
H3 tags works as sub categories to the h2 tags.
Don’t bother using further more H tags like h4 etc or in extreme necessity.
Use Paragraphs to structure your texts neatly. Put emphasis on the keywords present in the paragraphs. Make alternate use of <em> <em> <strong> tags, DO not use to overload your paragraphs with those. You only want some keywords to pop out not the entire paragraph. Think of it like a highlighter, it’s unpleasant to see a whole bunch of words highlighted isn’t it?
Recently update, no need to use the meta keyword anymore. Just unique meta description is fine for each page of a maximum of 150 words.
The title tag cannot be empty and must be of a maximum of 58 words.
Technology utilization:
Make use of Jquery rather than the old Flash because Google like simple text and easy to read. Jquery is a great alternative and is compatible with all devices (Ipod, Ipad, iphone users). Which occupies nearly 10% of the visits on a website. Flash is becoming obsolete and rare are the companies that still use Flash, yes even for animated banners that are mostly made nowadays with JavaScript only.
Don’t leave any Alt attributes empty, it’s the only place you’ll have to really stuff your keywords in, even if it doesn’t make any sense. An Alt attribute must be present in all <a> tags as long with a title attribute. In the Alt attribute use keyword separated with Hyphens. Example: mango-juice-online
Don’t use description that has nothing to do with the image itself for the Title.
Why? Ever used Google image? This is the description that will appear over there, so be constructive, It’s irrelevant to have a picture of a Horse with a description which says “pigs-are-cool”. And users will literally assign as a “dumb” website.
Use a Header containing your Logo and Menu (once again no flash for the menu is the best way for google to crawl your website effectively and go through all the links found there. The best way to structure a Menu if you have sub categories and need to use drop-down menu is to use <ul> <li> structure.
Do some research on how to use these tags to make a menu. Customize the visual appearance of this with simple CSS or JavaScript.
Avoid using TABLES on your website. I mean, it’s time to change, it’s an obsolete way of making website. Use DIVS at the place, it’s neater and more structuralist and you won’t forget to close a TABLE Tag somewhere which will drive you nuts.
Use a footer. Really important nowadays, its like a Quick Link reflex for users to scroll down a web page to see if it’s a genuine and trustful website. Important information like: simple contact form, address of the business, telephone number, twitter feeds, or RSS feeds (that display elements from your blog) can be put in there. If you have a blog it’s better to use the RSS feed in the footer, which will give an easier access to the readers. Your footer must be subtle and not the main point of attraction. Use a darker color for it’s background or light text color. Always keep in mind that on your website, you should brag about YOUR own internal links and avoid sending your hard earned traffic to other websites.
For example if you put a link to a Wiki page, you will most probably lose that user which is busy reading the encyclopedia, so the alternative for this example is to write your own definition of something you want to explain. OK, let me give you a more explicit example. Your website is about mango juice, at some point you’ll definitely show the advantage of Mango right? So do the hard job of reading the Wikipedia yourself and resume in your own words what it is, rather than putting a link to the wiki page. The user will most probably forget to come back to your website to buy the Mango juice. So Maximize your effort to keep a user busy reading pages on your website at anytime!
I use to see lot of people using this bad method just because they were not aware of the internet user behavior. It’s a distractive world and some people will come to your website just to relax reading something interesting and not be informed like in school. So keep it a fun and in an interactive way to inform them.
What to understand here: The key to succeed here, is not by giving backlinks to other website. It’s the total opposite! I will talk about that topic later in this post.
What will naturally bring more customers
To resume the simple strategy to adopt: Write quality content on your website, don’t be afraid to share your personal point of view and talking the truth about something. I mean you need to build your reputation here, so crappy content like “buy mango juice it’s good for the health” is not the way to do it. By the way you write something, you encourage your customers that it’s a product/service that will not be worthless to them. Convincing your audience by letting them make the final decision. Got it? If you adopt that pure logic, your audience will flag your website as a trustful source of information rather than just a selling store which main goal is to make Money. You can even have great website like Wikipedia linked to you because you have quality content! Yes, this is the only power that will make your business grow naturally.
Backlinking
Backlinks are the source of your success online. Link juice, Page rank, domain authority are an important thing that everyone is talking about the past years, and this is what you will hear in the next step to your success.
One question that is often asked to me: Is it true that the more links that point to my domain, the better I’m ranked on Google?
Well, yes. But NO at the same time.
Many people after reading this line, don’t just jump and start creating and spamming all , blog or forums you find. Wait there’s a trap ahead. I will explain what it is and how not to fall stupidly into it.
The basic concept is to create the maximum links possible to your website, which is called “backlinking” I agree on that one. But did you know that there’s good backlinks, backlinks that can disadvatage you and backlinks that doesn’t count at all?
Yes, sadly things are not as easy as we thought. So let dig deeper in this direction: I will explain to you which one will work in your advantage. First of all, you need to know that high activity for a new website that starts to gather hundred of backlinks rapidly from various website are information tracked by Google and other solicited website like Alexa, and google uses those data to calculate if your website is trustful or considered as a niche/spammer website and there you can risk to get sandboxed (which means that you won’t have any PageRank, get pushed to the last results page in the SERPS. Yes a veritable nightmare). Which leaves any SEO septic about the method to use to not get sandBoxed because no one knows Google’s complex algorythm. All we can do is try to sense how Google reacts next to things we throw at it. Make an evaluation report of what seems to be good and liked by this Search Engine. Those are the tips I’m sharing with you today from my learning and different test I’ve personally made to mess and test google behavior. Of course I cannot expose the whole observation and all what I’ve learned because it will take more than twenty thousand words to explain everything. And added to that the fact that Google’s algorythm is changing and updating every semester. You have to pictualize it that way, Google is like the engine in you car. But the only difference is that no one knows what’s under the hood bacause we cannot open it! You don’t know any of the specs. All you can do is rate it’s performance, the environment its built for and the energy that gives it the maximum power (here the links).
Now that you know that we are optimizing in consequence to the behavior and the experiences gathered throughout my several tests, we can start the Engine.
Let’s dig in SEO
I will go straight to the point here:
The best links you can gain are called “Dofollow links” which is a name that appeared since the recent trend of blogs, forums, popular social bookmarking sites use to brake the Spammers. All this by creating the rel=”Nofollow” tag present in the Anchored link. What does that mean? It means that you will not get any Link juice from links that contains this attribute. It’s pointless to post backlinks that uses the Nofollow attribute. Why? Simply because they don’t want to give credits to any websites that uses their platform to brag about an external website. Remember above my suggestion to not use many external links on your website? This is actually the same think those website uses those methods to block any attempt even if there were spam. We all agree that Spam bloggers have increased significantly over the web by inserting random links into a comment. Their comments look so close to a real comment that they were approved. But with the Nofollow, there’s no need to make use of a moderator to read the comments and validate or decline them. No, all comments are now automatically validated and your text passes through a scanner that automatically detect a link, make them clickable and cherry on the cake, they automatically add the famous Nofollow attribute to your link. Which is I know frustrating, but at the same time we noticed that spammers gave up their luck and went posting to other old websites that has lower Root Domain popularity and that do not use those Nofollow methods. Which is a Win for the Nofollow project, and this is why we need to avoid them in SEO. Why? Yes, Google take count in a chart of Dofollowed vs. Nofollowed links. And it does affect your ranking in the Search Engine Results Page (SERPs), a competitor website with a few more Dofollow links than you and with no Nofollowed links will be better ranked than you even if you have thousand of Nofollow links.
That’s the clearer explanation you’ll find about those two attributes. So be careful while buying backlinks over the internet make sure which one they are providing you or if you’re posting to forums/blogs, maximize your Doffollowed links. You can verify if a website is using Dofollow or not by Downloading Firebug for Firefox and by inspecting a user previous comment that contains a link. You will see next to the link if rel=”nofollow” is present, if it is not present then it’s a Dofollow link (Important: keep in mind that it will no be written rel=”Doffolow” It is just an SEO language) So it’s a good habit to do a check each time you surf the web or high Ranked page where you can post something.
We’re half way to SEO core
About High Ranked page, after you find a Dofollow link, it’s not a Win for you yet, you will have to see if it’s a high ranked page or not. How to know that? By simply installing a plugin like “SEO status pagerank” on firefox that will show a Page Rank indicator on each page that you browse. What is that and how is it important you will ask me. So let me tell you: Page Rank are calculated on /10 and the higher a page is ranked is a combination of several factors that comes from Google. The more you score the more your website is considered trustful, quality, well built and has a reputation. The reputation ranking is monitored by Alexa which is an Amazon company that google gathers information from. So the better you rank from Alexa, the more your website is relevant to your your keywords.
A Page Rank will be attributed to your website too after some months. Try maximizing your traffic so that it’s never equal to zero. Write posts and post the links of related forums, in this case you’ll not focus on the “Nofollow” restriction I told you above, because here you’re not building links, you’re trying to attract users to your website. Or there is some websites out there that propose traffic to your website for a small fee per month and even quality backlinks you can check SERPsite for example. The more traffic activity you get, the more improvement will be sensed by Alexa -> So it’s good for your Google Page Rank.
Optional, but yet very effective
Profile creations are part of the game too. With no limit, try and search for blogs or High PR websites that indirectly link through your website. Yes by creating a profile you can add a link back to your website, add you twitter account, youtube channel etc. Which will directly and indirectly benefit your website. Personal tip here, search for links from .Edu or .Org websites, Google specially loves those domains.
Use YP directory, it’s a trustful website that google trust. Create your profiles there and put your company on the map. The more you subscribe to those type of directories, the more your customers will find you easily. If you don’t want to put you address because it’s your Home address for example, don’t specify your exact address, you can specify the city and still be present on those directories. Try Manta, which is powerful tool and do some research to get more YP-like directories.
Use Website directories and create profile of your website. Yes, this is a great source obtaining quality backlinks in no-time. Well, there is some requirements to meet. The one and only important one is the Content uniqueness of your description. Yes, each website that allow free posting of your website in their directory will expect that you write quality contents manually. Why manually? Because it’s an important factor to Google, a duplicated content that can be found on 100 different website is simply considered as spam to google, and is not in the advantage of those web directories giving such information. So all what you need to wonder is to write unique content. Not to write all the text all over again, but change the meaning of the sentences, spin it around that it’s not the same as you posted on another directory. Just do a simple copy-paste of a text in google to see all the websites that host those contents. If you find a result pop out, then most likely your submission to those directories wont be satisfied and your submission will be declined. Yes, an SEO is also a good writer.
Use different media type that contain your brand name and keywords.
Yes create an introduction video for example that you’ll post on Youtube. The aim here is not to get Million Views, but just to appear in the search results when you type your brand name. Google recently support the indexing of those kind of medias and appear to like them. Also PDF documents which contain a unique presentation of your business or website can benefit you. Google is capable of reading the entire PDF document if it’s readable as text. So it’s all in your advantage to links users to PDFs on your website.
Other tips and links will be coming soon, by this time you can put in practice my simple advices and you’ll be well indexed on Google like never before. Do not hesitate to comment and give me your opinion and how it helped you, I will be glad to hear that my sharing with you helped.

I don’t believe mass directory submissions will get you much in the way of rankings these days (even with unique description text). But I definitely agree that video can be a great strategy. And thanks for the detailed post.
Directory submission will give you most of the time Do-Follow backlinks which is very good if it get pinged by Google. But the age of directory has come to an end, like the Dmoz project. More effort is made on Forums in the SEO industry. Thanks for your comment.
